Norway Trekking gives you advices before entring the Norwegian Mountains in the winter

Right clothing and equipment are essential for successful skiing in the Norwegian mountains and here you get some advices by Norway Trekking and Backcountry Norway

It does not have to be the latest fashion, but it should protect you against weather and wind. The innermost layer should keep the skin dry and provide insulation. Norway Trekking advice you to choose wool garments that fits snugly. The intermediate layer provides insulation and transport moisture away from the body. They may be made of wool or fleece. The outer garments must provide wind and moisture protection.

Norway Trekking recommend you to not load the winter back at a maximum weigh at 14 kg. Weigh your back pack for control. The following list is a suggestion of what you should bring on an ski tour from cabin to cabin. Pack light and do not bring unnecessary stuff and electronics!

Norway Trekking advices you to bring following clothing:

Long underwear (wool)
Thick sweater (wool/fleece)
Wool socks
Windproof mountain hooded jacket or anorak
Mountain ski trousers or wind proof trousers
Woolen gloves and windproof mittens
Gaiters/leggings
Ski boots
Skis (minimum 50 mm wide, with steel edges)
Strong mountain ski poles with substantial basketsSturdy boots (leather)
Ski wax, scraper

Protection against weather:

Sun glasses, goggles
sunscreen
Extra pair of socks
Extra pair of gloves/mittens
Balaclava/Turtleneck
Extra woolen underwear
Rain gear (if you do not have waterproof mountain clothing)
Thick sweater, fleece jacket or down jacket

Personal first aid kit
Light repair kit
Emergency ration food (chocolate, raisins, nuts, etc.)
Emergency bivouac for mountaineers

Knife

Toilet articles, small towel
